TUPELO, Miss. — According to a recent report from the U.K.-based Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), AI-generated videos illustrating child sexual abuse spiked by more than 26,000 percent in 2025. More than half of the videos reported fell under “category A,” the classification for the most extreme type of abuse. Late last year, AI chatbot Grok was reported to have been generating one nonconsensual sexualized image per minute; California AG Rob Bonta has announced an official inquiry into Grok and its parent company, xAI.
AFA Action, the governmental affairs affiliate of the American Family Association, has been on the front lines in the fight to hold Big Tech companies responsible for their failure to protect children.
“The explosion of AI-generated child sexual abuse content exposes how dangerously out of control this technology has become,” said AFA Action CEO Walker Wildmon. “When AI ‘tools’ are producing content that exploits children, the failure is not technological; it’s ethical and systemic. Big Tech rushed these products to market without meaningful protections, proving once again that they value speed and profit over responsibility and restraint. AFA Action has been pushing to hold these companies accountable because protecting children must come before corporate profits. If these companies refuse to put effective guardrails in place, it is up to lawmakers and courts to do it for them.”
